Hey Mayor Beutler!

How's this for conserving water???

I put some cheap vinyl gutters on my shed last Saturday to collect rainwater. It is so much better for the flowers, plants and vegetables at my house. I've filled one 55 gallon plastic drum already and rigged up another one last night.

Moving the full 440 pound barrel out of the way wasn't too bad!

That's a really neat idea.

Thanks Gene. I should have a good amount already in barrel #2 after last night's rain.

was it hard to hook the hose up to the bottom? Is your shed up higher on the property?

Where do you get them there barrels? I know folks love them and they can be hard to find.

The whole deal is a big experiment as I didn't want to spend a lot of cash. I use a rotary pump in the top of the barrel and pump into a watering can. I haven't rigged up a hose yet. Some kind of bulkhead fitting in the bottom of the barrel might work.

Shed is higher than house but same elevation as veggie garden.

I get the barrels second hand from my employer. Want a couple?
